Electronic Rust Protection

Our beach patrol vehicles are subjected to a very hostile working enviroment, constant exposure to salt water and sand abrasion. This environment was taking a heavy toll on the vehicles and efforts to control rust by conventional methods were not very successful.

We fitted Couplertec electronic rust prevention units to the vehicles and monitored the vehicles for corrosion. The results were very good. A substantial improvement was noted in corrosion control. It was also noted that areas of the vehicle that had sustained scratches through to bare metal did not rust, there was a darkening of the area but no actual rust formed around the scratched area.

After a period of six months it started to become apparent that there was a difference between the vehicles. The vehicle that was not fitted with the Couplertec system was showing signs of rust staining at various points around the vehicle.

Other systems have been trialed but have not been as successful as the Couplertec system. The Couplertec units have reduced corrosion and subsequent downtime in repairs. This has enabled us to extend the life of our beach vehicles and improved the resale value of the vehicle.

Overall, it has proven to be a worthwhile addition to our vehicles and has prompted us to fit these units to our beach vehicles, tractors and beach cleaning implements.
